Ha - translates as “sun” and Tha translates as “moon”. Hatha Yoga balances these two energies bringing balance to body and mind. Hatha yoga refers to the physical practice of yoga (asanas) as opposed to, say, chanting or meditation.
As a style of yoga, Hatha Yoga aligns the body allowing the energy to flow freely, especially through the spine - the main energy channel of the body. In our physical practice we work on balancing flexibility and strength, steadiness and ease (Sthira and Sukha). Hatha yoga can sometimes be thought of as a more gentle form of yoga than Power Yoga, Ashtanga or Vinyasa because the poses aren’t generally linked together in a flow, however, Hatha classes can be just as challenging due to their slower pace.

All graduates of Yoga University's 290 hour and 670 hour Teacher Training Programs are eligible for registration with Yoga Alliance® at the 200 and 500 hour level respectively. So rest assured that a certification through Yoga University will qualify you to register with Yoga Alliance. You can verify our registration with Yoga Alliance here.
This is one of our most popular trainings! Students love the powerful, rejuvenating, & healing effects of Restorative Yoga. Restorative yoga is a gentle inward form of yoga that invites participants to move towards greater balance, control, and participation in their life. The participant's body is placed in yoga postures that are supported with props. The mind is invited to slow down with the use of pranayama, visualization, and mantra allowing the individual to turn inside. A restorative practice is a complement to any yoga practice or other forms of exercise and perfect for almost any practitioner looking to experience a deeper state of relaxation and healing than Savasana or sleep. It is also a perfect practice for those recovering from injury or illness or anyone who experiences stress on a daily basis. THIS TRAINING IS OPEN TO STUDENTS AND TEACHERS. Bryan Kest's Power Yoga Master Class (9:30a-12:30p) is a well rounded, flowing asana practice integrating spiritual practice that enhance everyday living. The class is designed to invigorate the body and develop a calm, less reactive state of mind while practicing dynamic, flowing sequences. In Bryan's Power Yoga Master Class students are encouraged to focus on the spiritual process and not the end result. This allows ALL levels of yoga practitioners to enjoy and benefit from the experience.

Long, Slow, Deep Master Class (2p-5p) Bryan had a couple of objectives when he created Long, Slow, Deep. First of all, Bryan wanted to give students a deep and challenging alternative to the myriad of Vinyasa and flowing yoga classes. He wanted students to have a choice of yoga practices that may not involve Sun Salutations or Standing Series. Bryan wanted to offer students a practice that is utterly potent without focusing on strength, endurance or even building much heat. Secondly,Bryan wanted students to experience the benefits of holding poses a little longer, giving massive areas such as hamstrings, groin, hips, shoulders, etc., more time to release and go deeper into poses. This is truly an amazing routine!! It is by FAR the most difficult class Bryan teaches, yet we rarely leave the floor. The challenge of Long, Slow, Deep is mostly primarily mental but hang in there, be patient and keep breathing deeply and fluidly. This class is suited for students of all levels.
