What is Hatha Yoga?

Ha -  translates as “sun” and Tha translates as “moon”. Hatha Yoga balances  these two energies bringing balance to body and mind. Hatha yoga refers to the physical practice of yoga (asanas) as  opposed to, say, chanting or meditation. 

As a style of yoga, Hatha Yoga aligns the body allowing the energy to flow freely,  especially through the spine - the main energy channel of the body. In our physical  practice we work on balancing flexibility and strength, steadiness and  ease (Sthira and Sukha). Hatha yoga can sometimes be thought of as a more gentle form of yoga  than Power Yoga, Ashtanga or Vinyasa because the poses aren’t generally  linked together in a flow, however, Hatha classes can  be just as challenging due to their slower pace.

Yoga  University is an RYS, Registered Yoga School, with Yoga Alliance. All   graduates of Yoga University's 290 hour and 670 hour Teacher Training   Programs are eligible for registration with Yoga Alliance® at the 200   and  500 hour level respectively. So rest assured that a certification  through Yoga University will qualify you to register with Yoga Alliance.  You can verify our registration with Yoga Alliance here.

Girish Chant Workshop

Girish Cruden's  two-hour chanting immersion is for anyone seeking to bring the bliss of  Sanskrit chanting into daily life or to deepen an existing chanting  practice. You’ll explore several of the most powerful Sanskrit mantras  and offer practical guidance on integrating them into your yoga,  meditation, or pranayama practice.  No previous experience necessary!

Bryan Kest Long, Slow, Deep Workshop

Long, Slow, Deep Master Class   (2p-5p) Bryan had a couple of objectives when he created Long, Slow,   Deep. First of all, Bryan wanted to give students a deep and  challenging  alternative to the myriad of Vinyasa and flowing yoga  classes. He  wanted students to have a choice of yoga practices that may  not involve  Sun Salutations or Standing Series. Bryan wanted to offer  students a  practice that is utterly potent without focusing on  strength, endurance  or even building much heat. Secondly,Bryan wanted  students to experience  the benefits of holding poses a little longer,  giving massive areas  such as hamstrings, groin, hips, shoulders, etc.,  more time to release  and go deeper into poses. This is truly an amazing  routine!! It is by  FAR the most difficult class Bryan teaches, yet we  rarely leave the  floor. The challenge of Long, Slow, Deep is mostly  primarily mental but  hang in there, be patient and keep breathing  deeply and fluidly. This  class is suited for students of all levels.

Registering for yoga teacher training is simple:

  2. Pay the $25 registration fee
  3. Select a payment option (FULL PAYMENT or PAYMENT PLAN)
  4. Join us for training!!

Full Payment

  • $2,200 Early* ($200 savings!)
    • *Discount Deadline is 90 days prior to commencement of training.
  • $2,400 Late**   
    • **Late Payment due on or before the first day of training
  • *Elective Courses, Books, Props, Lodging, and Meals are NOT included in tuition.

The Payment Plan is an automatic monthly Credit Card contract via MindBody Online. PAYMENT PLAN REGISTRATION

Pay as You Go

For  the pay as you go option students pay for each course  individually.  The Science of Teaching Yoga is $350 per module (7 modules), Informed  Assists is $350 (Includes 8 hours of Teacher Training)  + Elective courses.
